About Us

The members of Badger Swine Genetics have been breeding purebred swine since 1967. We started with Hampshire, then added Duroc, and finally added Yorkshire and Exotics. In 2002 we started selling semen to local commercial customers from our herd boars. That has evolved to current date of selling semen to breeders, showpig producers, and commercial customers.

While actual semen sales started in 02, we have been using AI technology since the late sixties. East Central Breeders, Waupun, Wisconsin, added swine to their current AI bull stud. Our family was asked to help select superior boars for the induction of the swine to the AI Center. Naturally we used Hampshire boars that were in the stud. Frozen semen was used at this time. AI rods were glass tubes with a 45 degree bend to mount the glass bottle via surgical tubing. Breeding success was not very good at that time. As time went on, we used skimmed milk for extending our own boars.

A lot has changed, however, we still have the same passion for improving swine genetics. Currently we have 60 sows in production of show pigs and seedstock and 15 boars in stud. We are also capable of providing nutritional solutions.
